Grants for restaurants and hospitality industry still available
Grants are still available for many of our favorite restaurants placed at risk due to this pandemic. The road to recovery for some of these businesses may come from the SBA Restaurant Revitalization Fund or the COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program.
The American Rescue Plan Act established the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to provide funding to help restaurants and other eligible businesses keep their doors open. This program will provide restaurants with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Recipients are not required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023.
The Covid-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP) will allocate $145 million in funding assistance to the hospitality industry adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This grant program is specifically geared to helping the hospitality industry. Northampton County is receiving more than $3.4 million and Lehigh County is receiving slightly more than $4.1 million in funding to provide grants to eligible businesses through this program. Rising Tide is administering this program in partnership with the counties of Northampton and Lehigh.
