COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP)

 

The Covid-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP) will allocate $145 million in funding assistance to the hospitality industry adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.  This grant program is specifically geared to helping the hospitality industry.  Northampton County is receiving more than $3.4 million and Lehigh County is receiving slightly more than $4.1 million in funding to provide grants to eligible businesses through this program..  Rising Tide is administering this program in partnership with the counties of Northampton and Lehigh.

ELIGIBILITY


  • As stated on tax return, business has an industry classification starting with NAICS code 721: Accommodation or NAICS Code 722: Food Services and Drinking Places and is located in Northampton County and Lehigh County
  • Was in operation on February 15, 2020 and remains in operation, and does not intend to permanently cease operations within one year of the date of application
  • Experienced a reduction in revenue of at least 25% in gross receipts between comparable quarters in 2019 and 2020
  • Has fewer than 300 full-time equivalent employees
  • COVID-19 has had an adverse economic impact on the eligible business
  • Has a maximum tangible net worth of not more than $15 million
  • Business is not publicly traded

PRIORITY


Will be given to applicants that:

  • Have not received a loan or grant issued under the authority of the Commonwealth or the Commonwealth’s political subdivision or by the Federal Government under the CARES Act or Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021.
  • Were subject to closure by the proclamation of disaster emergency issued by the Governor on March 6, 2020
  • Can demonstrate a reduction in revenue in gross receipts of 50% between comparable quarters in 2019 and 2020

Basic information about you business , such as:

  • Type and Structure of business
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) of business owner
  • NAICS Code (6-digit number used to identify the type of business you are operating, can be found on the first page of most tax returns)
  • Number of full-time and part-time employees pre-COVID and currently

 

Required Documents

  • Business Tax returns for 2019 and 2020, if completed
  • Quarterly Financial Statements for 2019 and 2020, including profit and loss
  • Proof of Business Organization (Certificate of Organization, Articles of Incorporation, or Fictious Name Filing)
  • W-9
  • Copy of Business Owners Driver’s License

APPLICATION PERIOD


Applications opens March 15, 2021 and it will remain open until funding for grants has been exhausted or June 15, 2021, which ever comes first.
